Mission

Our purpose is to increase the popularity of bicycling in Utah County by providing fun, safe events for all bicyclists.  These events provide a safe option for bicycle racing for all ages, types of bikes and income levels as we have divisions for road bikes, mountain bikes, fat bikes, single speeds, cruisers, trikes, tandem bikes, those pulling kids, kids, etc.  We want all who enjoy riding any type of bicycle to feel welcome, and want to create a feeling of camaraderie among all types of cyclists through this family-friendly atmosphere where not only the serious racer can participate but also casual riders.  We hope to make bicycle racing just as popular as running 5K races has become in Utah County and attract more people to the joint-healthy sport of cycling.  Our goal is to create affordable events that the general public can attend regularly.  These will be free club events until we can get enough donors to help us with the costs getting permits to charge.

Prize Transportation

If you would like a longer ride feel free to ride to the start or continue afterwards with other participants who may also want to ride more.   We can drop your prize off at a local bike shop in Utah County nearest your home so you won’t have to carry it on the bike.

Event Details

MULTIPLE EVENT DISTANCES & STARTING OR FINISH LINE LOCATIONS AT EACH RIDE:  Each event has 3-5 options for the length you can ride, depending on the venue, and because the timed portion is only for the uphill portion, there will be different start or finish lines.

When you reach your desired finish line, a timer will record your time (if we have enough volunteers, if not you will write your time in a binder there) and you will take a tag that says your event category and finish place, which you will take with you as you ride back to the awards at the finish area and give to the prize volunteer, who will tell you what bin to take your prize from. You can always shorten your ride if you don't feel well or aren't placing as high as you want in the longer distance, and finish at a shorter distance than you signed up for, but you can't move up to a longer distance if you haven't signed up for it.  You can always keep riding farther than the distance you signed up for, but you need to first stop and make sure the timer has your name/bib number and time and hands you your prize ticket, then you can catch back up to anyone you were riding with who is going farther to see how you would have placed if you chose a longer distance.  You also need to make sure to tell the timer at the longer distance that you already got a time so they don't record you for the longer event and show them your finish tag.
There is a time limit for each event which you need to meet in order to have your time listed in that category, otherwise your time will be recorded for the next shortest distance you have already finished within the time limit, which will make you eligible for that category.
.
The “ULTRA” event is the longest distance available at most venues.  All are welcome to ride in this event who can finish in the time limit of 2 hours, but it is not recommended that children under the age of 14 attempt this event or those with health conditions that prohibit high heart rates.
The “ENDURANCE” event, the 2nd longest distance, is not recommended for children under the age of 12 or those with health conditions that prohibit high heart rates.  The time limit for the uphill portion is 1 hour and 30 minutes.
.
The “INTERMEDIATEevent is open to all, but is not recommended for children under age 10 unless they have enough experience with climbing hills on a bicycle.  The time limit for the uphill portion is 1 hour.
.
The “SPRINT” distance will be a short event, and while it is open to all ages, it is the most recommended distance to choose for those ages 5-10 or over 65, and those new to cycling.  On road races, parents are required to ride to the right of any children under age 10 until the roads are closed for the races.  The time limit is 30 minutes.
.
The “TODDLER” event will be approximately 50-100 M long and will be off the road near registration at a park or another safe place near where the start of all the other events is.  These will only take about 1 minute so we will start these 5 minutes before the hour of the posted start time when all the other events start so that parents can be able to help their kids or watch them before participating in an event themselves.  All toddlers get a finisher prize and it is not a timed event.

Registration Info

REGISTRATION DETAILS:
Registration for our events is currently free for all events!  Please RSVP if possible by texting or calling 8012312000 or email utah bicycling club @ gmail .com (no spaces) or mark "attending" on the "Uphill Cycling Series" facebook group event so we can anticipate the number of participants to bring refreshments and goodie bags for.  An RSVP is not required to participate, however.  30 minutes before the start of the race you need to sign up in order to be eligible for prizes at the end.  We will have you sign a waiver and write down your name, age, bike category, event, email address, team name, and parent signature for all under age 18.  Registration will end 5 minutes before the start of the first event so that we can organize the order of the starting line up, so please be on time.  If you miss the start you will still be allowed to race but we will not adjust your time to account for the late start.
